Dr. Leon Zhou, currently serves as Global Technology Partnership Manager and earned recognition of Global R&D Senior Expert of Roquette. He holds more than 20 patents for product and process innovation as well as application in the areas of plant proteins, starch based functional ingredients, sugar alcohols and dietary fibers. For past 30 years at Roquette, he has served as Americas region’s Head of R&D, Head of Customer Technical Service and Sr Manager of Process Technology. Leon obtained his bachelor’s degree at Jiangnan University (China), Master degree at University of Massachusetts, and PhD at Penn State University.

Dr. Zhou has been actively involved in research collaboration with universities, government research centers, trade organization, private research centers and start ups in the areas of carbohydrates, dietary fibers, rare sugar, plant proteins, and fermentation enabled proteins. He has been active member and given presentations at international conferences and lectures at universities. He serves as industrial board member in several university research centers.

Dr. Zhou has been Roquette’s technical coordinator for Protein Industries Canada and consortium leader of Protein Industries Canada protein innovation program for the past 7 years.
