Heather Courtney is the Founder and CEO of Alwyn Capital, an early-stage investment firm that partners with companies who are reshaping our food, materials, and biotechnology industries by transitioning away from the use of animals. Heather has been vegan for 25 years. In that time, she has witnessed the exponential growth of the plant-based food sector and knows the space intimately. Heather is both a creative and a scientist. She holds a degree in Biochemistry from University of Florida and spent years working as a scientific researcher before deciding on a career shift. She also holds a degree in Photography and Visual Communication from Parson School of Design. Prior to founding Alwyn Capital, Heather spent over a decade helping fashion and lifestyle companies cultivate their brand identity.
Heather is a Deal Lead for the GlassWall Syndicate (a group of over 200 mission-driven investors) and the Co-Chair for GlassWall’s Alternatives to Animal Testing Committee. She serves on the Advisory Council of the Center for Contemporary Sciences, the Investment Advisory Council for Material Innovation Initiative, and on the Board of Rise for Animals.
